Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software used by various graphic designers, artists, publishers, and other creative professionals to create flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and books. Initially part of the Creative Suite, Adobe InDesign is now available as an individual software and as a part of the larger Creative Cloud. This software application can be used on either macOS or a Windows computer, and any project created on it can be shared in both digital and print formats.

Compared to Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, Adobe InDesign is mainly used for publishing design. Therefore, rather than it being used to create artwork or any type of illustration, it is more used to create visual layouts using texts, images, and drawings. Often times, it will be used to create professional pages for documents that contain multiple pages or those that need to be published or distributed online or in print.

Adobe InDesign acts as an industry-standard software and can be used along with other applications from the Creative Cloud. Therefore, the use of InDesign in combination with Illustrator or Photoshop is definitely possible.

Adobe InDesign Cost & Availability:

Adobe InDesign CC is available as a subscription and the cost will depend on the subscription plan chosen. For example, a subscription for the individual application costs $19.99 per month (when subscribed for a year) and $29.99 (when subscribed for a single month).

However, you can also purchase it along with the rest of the Creative Cloud applications for $49.99 per month (when subscribed for a year) or $79.99 per month (when subscribed for a single month only).

If you are a student or teacher, you will be provided with the opportunity to receive an academic discount. You may subscribe to the larger Creative Cloud for $19.99 per month (for an annual subscription plan) which will also include Adobe InDesign and 20 other Adobe apps. For discounted fees, there will be no month-to-month subscription available.
