SEO is an abbreviation that stands for search engine optimization. This term is commonly used by digital marketers as it is the process of acquiring traffic from “free, organic, editorial, or natural” search results on search engines such as Google, Bing, or Yahoo.

Search engines technically list and rank primary search results based on what they think is most relevant to users. Therefore, any web page or type of content (images or videos) that can be found on the very first page of search results, are those that the search engine thinks is most relevant. Hence, these pages are the ones that will gain the most clicks from users. 

Unlike ads, payment isn’t involved when it comes to SEO, and this is why many companies are opting for this strategy in order to improve their ranking on search engines. You can say that SEO is simply a way for companies to gain better recognition on the internet. It’s also extremely beneficial to new and growing companies that do not have the budget to invest in a ton of ads since it is the most organic way for companies to increase their brand awareness online. 

SEO is beneficial to any company aiming to grow. After all, the better ranking their web pages acquire, the more users will come across their content. This can lead to more clicks and traffic to the site, which may or may not further lead to a conversion. However, it is good to keep in mind that SEO is a process that will take a lot of patience as it is very time-consuming. It will take some time to climb up the rankings, and the higher you rank, the harder it’ll get to improve even further. Therefore, try not to give up if you do not see immediate results. 

Factors that go into SEO:

There are 3 main factors that go into SEO. This includes:

1) Quality of links – at the end of the day, you want to be attracting users online who will genuinely interested in the products or services that you offer.

2) Quantity of links – this is the amount of people clicking on your link from the search engine results page. Obviously, the more traffic there is, the better it is for your business.

3) Organic results – this is basically any traffic that you don’t have to pay for, which is what makes SEO different from online ads.

For SEO, you’ll have to continuously make efforts in link building, both on-site and off-site, since you want to be increasing both the quality and quantity of links to your website. To do this, you can create unique and relevant content that includes links to your website. Therefore, a great content marketing strategy will be incredibly important for SEO.
